These days, we change the water pump almost every time when we change a cam belt. Citroen & Peugeot do sell a kit that contains the pump as well. Some of the manufacturers for the belt kits have started including it also if req. tbh makes little difference with the likes of Gates or continental wether you buy it together or separately.
If you think about the situation from a garages point of view, the customer will call " How much for a cambelt on my ##### please ?"
The garage then has to quote a reasonable & attractive price to keep the customers attention, so you as the repairer can explain the benefits of changing the pump, or wait till the car comes in and is stripped . Then you call the customer & tell him " your water pump needs changing sir"
If you have been quoted £295, by Citroen, they will very likely call you on the day & take another £100 off you for the job.
We charge £225 + vat for the belt & pump, just to give everyone an idea on the cost.
Also I don't believe there are any poor cambelt kits on the market, but we generally use Dayco or INA. These generally contain new bolts & studs that are NOT included in genuine PSA kits.
