Heated Mirrors?
#1
I picked up my facelift van last week, being quite impressed with it being an upgrade from my Bipper professional only to find that it doesn't have heated wingmirrors or heated washer jets?

The dealer told me that it is actually a factory option, is this true as i would have thought it would be a common thing since the enterprise editions come fully loaded?

Heated mirrors cost a bit more to manufacture, so yeah, they were an option.
wouldn't surprise me if the wiring is all in place, though.

Ahh so long as the dealer isn't pulling my plonker thats fine - does seem bizarre that a vehicle with all the bells and whistles doesn't have the basic options as standard though

Why should it?

Those parts costs money, and if you park the car in a garage at night, you probably won't need them all that much...

Here in Norway, though... Wouldn't mind heated washer jets...
(I have the heated mirrors. )

It just seems weird to me - I've never bought a car or a van without them on, they have always been standard equipment.

Trust me, just having them under the bonnet isn't enough...
One X-mas when I visited my brother near Oslo, I measured -18© when I started the return trip, and before I passed Lillehammer(remember the winter olympics?), the washers were frozen solid. And the mix I used was supposedy rated for -25©.
I had to drive most of the way in 4th gear just so that the dinky little 1.4i could produce enough heat to keep the cabin somewhat warm.

Hi,
I've been through this myself, when I bought my Enterprise van 3 years ago. The dealer wasn't any help, but some research showed me that the wiring is already there, but!
You need a switch fitted to the aircon panel for the mirror heaters. This can mean a complete new unit, including  the aircon dials etc. Then you need it activated in software. Then you need to swap both the mirror glasses for ones with elements.
All in all, I gave up and found that a quick squirt of de-icer on the few frosty mornings we had, worked.

I too think heater mirrors ought to be standard, especially when there's no rear screen, so it's the only way to see behind you!
Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement…
