If the middle drops out can you use it as a 5p ? I can find no reference to the middles falling out of £1 coins, the same rumour started when the £2 coin was introduced and I never saw one of those disintegrate either.


Sorry just found evidence that you can separate them by dropping them in liquid nitrogen, I'll be careful not to let that happen then.
So where does this bit go then ?
