Mystery plug in engine bay

My car is a M59 2005 2.0 HDi multispace.I have found a plug on the left side (looking from the front) of the engine which is not connected to anything. It is a 3 socket (not pins) plug and is yellow where the sockets are. I recently had a new cambelt fitted and wonder if it was previously taped up somewhere, so I didn't see it, or should it be connected somewhere. Nothing has stopped working, that I have noticed. The cable colours are red (could be pink), white and green. The white cable is thinner than the other two.

I think Citroen fit a standardised wiring harness so its most likely a connector for equipment that's not fitted to your model. If everythings working its probably nothing to be concerned about though the connector looks very clean.
There was another post on here a few days ago on the same subject, actually looked like the same connector on that one too ( a lot dirtier tho lol)

Thanks DaveH. I suspected it was simply an unused connector but then recalled my recent cambelt replacement. The other post you mentioned is in fact the same connector but, as you say, is a bit grimy, indicating it's never been connected to anything. Mine was so clean I though it must have been left out from somewhere but everywhere possible seems occupied. Thanks for the reassurance anyway.

As for the clean engine bay, I just give it a wipe over at each oil and filter change. Thanks for the compliment!
