Cup Holder Backed Middle Seat
#1
Question
Hi Folks,

Just purchasing a new XTR ETG. I noticed this model has the centre seat cup holder on the back. Since I'm also intending to add boot camper conversion (Amdro Bootjump), I was wondering how you get this seat completely flat like the other two when folded down. Or alternatively, is there a way to remove the back in some safe and non-destructive way.

Cheers!
Colin.

Hi Colin

the back seat in B9 are designed to be removed without any tools etc see your handbook. Briefly there is a catch that allows the seats to pivot on the front and then you can remove completely if desired........

Also not sure if the XTR comes with a storage box, if not consider getting one in view of your plans for the conversion

I think my hope was that like the bench variation, and the three seat variation without the cup holder (Feel), the three seats could be just tipped flat, and then bed goes over. But its not clear in the show room if you can get the middle seat with the cup holder to go as equally flat as the two outer seats which have just material on the back.

Anybody, with a cup holder backed middle seat able to confirm if it can be made level with the other seats?

The centre seat on my XTR is maybe 2 inches higher than the outer 2 when the backs are folded down.
The cup holder tray looks to be held in place by just 2 self tappers ........BUT ....... if you remove it the back of the seat is not upholstered.

Thanks Dave, well I guess I can try removing the back and see what it's like. Anybody done this? Any nice pics?

I have an Amdro, but have the 60/40 seats. But I'd considered the main benefit of having the three seats would be leaving the centre one at home and using the space for luggage...

Actually that's a really good point, more storage when the middle seat is out. As long as I guess the Bootjump slats are supported well enough on the two outer seats.

I'd have thought so - it's really pretty sturdy. My other cunning plan was to construct a useful storage box of the right size to replace the seat...

However all that will have to wait for my next Berlingo...
