Glow plug tip stuck!!!
#11
I wouldn't go onto the motorway with it , suppose it pops out twenty miles from the next exit , any road will do.

I took the new plug with me and the tools to fit it...also the old top part of the plug just to block the hole in case of any problems...as it was it didnt blow out...not right then...ha ha;Steve.. Wink

ITS OUT!!!!....Thanks fellas for your help...Im a happy chappie right now...after a blast up the motorway and back home the thing was still in the head...so I gave it a slight sideways tap both ways then..BANG!!!..it came out like a rocket..ripped the sound deadening under the bonnet..bounced off the bedroom window and landed the other side of my Merc....I was well away whilst tapping...on the drive I took along my tools and both new and old glow plugs in case it came out whilst driving..as it happened it didnt...the picts show how I cobbled the engine enough to run..and it ran just fine considering it was on 3 pots...the tip of the plug looks well goosed..now that they are all new I may eleviate the smoke issue altogether..not sure..still think its valve stem oil seals....Im going to take all the plugs out again and give them a little smear of copper grease...I forgot last night....so when they need doing again they will be a darn sight easier to get out....Once again chaps...thank you so much for your help and advice,
Regards,
Steve

Hi guys I know this is an old post. I’ve got the same problem. I’ve got 2 tips broken in. Would it be advisable to do the same procedure? I’ve got the 1.6 hdi engine so plugs are at the rear of the engine.
