Programming virginsied BSI
#1
Hi all,

In relation to this thread: http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/thread-12...l#pid81916

Has anyone had to/ done programming a virginised BSI?

The story relates to my Berlingo BSI which has just come back from BBA and they have virginised it (without asking me first- annoying as the vehicle was at least running before!) I am fairly familiar with Lexia but I certainly haven't ever had to programme a BSI from scratch. Are there any tips? Any specific PIN codes other than the key pin and lexia PIN (03114) that I need to know about?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated as I simply cannot afford to send it back to the local dealership AGAIN to have this done!

Many thanks,

Phil

As far as I know, this has to be done at a main dealer as the data is downloaded directly from PSA. If you think about it, anyone could steal a car quite easily if you could reprogram it yourself thus defeating the imobiliser etc:
The last one I had done was £145.
BTW. You only get 1 shot at it.

Eeek, I was hoping that wouldnt be the case! I am hoping to get some further opinions before I decide what to do. I'd be very intersted to konw exactly what/ how the programming works.

Last time, it wasnt main dealer who did it (was a fairly local garage) and they had to ring Citroen to get the key PIN so I'd have thought if theirs connected to PSA then there would have been no need to call Citroen directly to get this.

You will need the Key code for sure & all the keys you require to work.
When you 1st connect with alexia, the computer will only connect with the bsi in the global test.
You need to go into the learning section, this will allow you to enter the vin number and then program the keys into the car. It is pretty straightforward. The tricky bit is going through all the parameters and stating it up for you car. Main ones are petrol/diesel, right or left hand drive, van or multi space etc etc.
Locking configuration can take some sorting.
For anyone in this position, it is a massive help if you keep a record of all the settings before the bsi is wiped as it can take a good bit of time to guess it all later.
Not sure if bba will have blanked every setting, of your lucky it may just be the immobiliser ones.

Thank you Lighty, that's good to hear. Whats really interesting about what you've just said is that a while ago the cars battery went almost flat and when I tried to start it, the BSI threw a wobbly and lost its config and keys etc. The VIN was also missing (a sea of what looked like thorns was in its place) Now to me, this is almost like it has wiped/ virginised itself. Interestingly another member on a forum claimed that a significant voltage drop during start up can be used to flash the EPROM inside the BSI (although he didnt recommend trying it!)

I was able to successfully reprogram it using the method you described with no issues at all and I'm hoping this will be the same process as before. If and when I get things up and running I'm going to post a detailed guide hopefully to help anyone else who has to do this.

Many thanks again,

Phil

Yes, what you did previously is identical, and these are the crucial steps in the programming.
Once you have succeeded at this but all the rest can be altered at will.
Good luck with it Smile

That's great, thank you very much. I'll post back when I've managed to have a go (hopefully I'll get to do it on Saturday)

Hi all,

We have success! Thanks to all who gave their advice. Here is a link to the guide I produced to help people who need to do this in future!
