[Warning Light] ESP/ASR warning light.

Hello all.

My Pug. Partner Tepee (2011, motor 1.6HDi with 112 HP, dv6cted) has this last week played a prank on me, and I am here to see if anyone can help figuring it out.

I was entering the motorway and decided to stretch 3rd gear. As soon as the motor went above 3500 rpm, ESP light came on, and messages on the dashboard were ESP system fault and motor damaged, and in the meantime the motor went on limp mode. I stopped at the next service station, turned ignition off and back on again, and got left with the damaged motor message and check engine light on, ESP light turned off, and no limp mode anymore. Entered the motorway again, and this time I stretched 4th gear. same result: when reaching 3500 rpm, ESP failure message and limp mode. Again ignition off and on cycle, and at the 3rd trial and on, ESP message never appeared again. After disconnecting ignition again 2 more times, check engine light also turned off, and these symptoms were never seen again. I have since tried stretching the 3rd and 4th gear on the motorway again 3 ou 4 times now. Nothing.
I have searched for similar cases online, and found 5 major possible reasons for this to happen, all also occurring in other PSA cars:

1 - Low voltage /damaged battery, with low voltage, some so the esp sensors turn off, and hence the message. - I have checked my battery with a multimeter, and according to general knowledge, my battery is ok, with 12.5V on ignition on, minimum 10V on motor cranking. And besides the occurrences were at high motor rotation, where voltage is normally above 13V... Would overvoltage also induce sucha an error???

2 - Faulty brake switch. - I have tried and braking lights come on normally as they should...and no messages on braking...

3 - Faulty wheel rotation sensors (shared with ABS circuit). - This failure would also turn the ABS light/fault messages on. This did not occur.

4 - Faulty accelerator sensor. - This may be a strong hypothesis...

5 - Faulty ESP ECU due to moisture and corrosion. - This is the one I am most fearful of...

Has anyone here in the forum had such symptoms in their Partner/Berlingo? What was the cause?

Did you try to connect any cheap OBD reader ?

Hello again.

I have connected a eobd reader, and the error in the ESP ECU (I cannot say the code anymore... ) was described as the ECU of the ESP lost knowledge of the motor´s torque.

I the conditions the reported speed was 125 km/h, and the reported speed of each of the wheels from the abs sensors was 0km/h...

I have tried to have the conditions and error repeated again now for more than 10 times...still nothing (the error codes were deleted and I did not take note of them).

I feel quite dumb to have deleted the error without having it written down...My major concern is that next Saturday I have a big trip planned (2700km from Germany to Portugal), and I am fearing that it may happen again during the trip. I hope now it was just an exceptional ocurrence, nothing more...

Then carry with you OBD reader so you can clear limp mode, if any,  and continue your trip...

I always carry one in my car, with bluetooth and "Torque" application.
