Good day to you all...I hope you have had a good time over the festive holidays,
I decided to fit a hands free bluetooth radio into the van the other day...Its one I bought for the Wife`s car earlier in the year...then upgraded it for her before Christmas...so I decided to fit it in the van for the handsfree facility...very simple task..old radio out...new one in...not one problem...untill I indicated right...it cut out...then came back on after the turn was made....touch the brakes...it cuts out till they are released..then comes back on...its only on those 2 functions that it cuts out Huh ....all connections are made (iso)....previous radio worked just fine...its just this little demon...I must add that its not an expesive one at all...a Maplin product ??...its a NIKKAI A66HY...worked great for the wife....but not for me Rolleyes ....has any one had problems like this before and could shed some light on it......or should I "Fix" it with a hammer !!,
Regards,
Steve

Stop using the brakes and indicating right. It's probably an earth on the steering column or dash, does the hooter do it as well ?
So where does this bit go then ?

Hi Steve.Nice to hear from you again,i do hope old smokie is ok after all this rain. You certainly are going through it ,your a glutten for punishment arent you.Really weird that problem,i dont think anybodys heard of it by the amount of replies.Anyway here's my penny worth, can i presume your old radio was working fine ? may pay just to reconnect the old one to double check its not something youve disturbed, could it be that the bluetooth part of the radio is picking up some sort of inteferance when braking and thinks its you using your phone therefore cutting out the sound stupid i know but maybe its something like that ,if the old radio is fine then the new one should be --------shouldnt it. Mmmmmmm

Thanks fellas,...Old "Smokie" is doing just fine Graham...keeping me on my toes though..throwing things like this at me..ha ha...well I managed to sort the problem out after swapping lots of wires over in so many configurations I got confused real bad...so went and bought an adaptor lead       its an ISO to ISO+ PC2-32-4 @£7-99 from Halfords...it stated it was for a 01 Berlingo..mine is 00 but it still did the job...I had to give it its own live feed to the rede wire on the adaptor...its a fly end for that purpose...I then took a feed off the cigarett lighter socket..and that was job sorted as this feed is a permenant live...in the adaptor there is a lone yellow wire but Im not sure what this is for...but for me...its job done...for now anyway  Cool ...
Regards,
Steve...

Hi Steve. That's great,i'm pleased you've sorted it,wiring can throw up some weird faults cant it,i know i had to swop a feed when i fitted a C.D. player in my "02" as it kept loosing the settings when i switched the ignition off, i still find it strange though that the radio went off when braking, there's no answer to that one.The loan yellow would be a feed to a electric aerial , if my memory serves me correctly, please make sure that you insulate it with a bit of tape..Anyway i wish you a very happy new year, and i do hope this year brings you less work and more fun with old smokie.

Thanks Graham..I think your right about the lone yellow wire...the same one powered my antenna on the Merc when I did a radio swap last year..plus its also for a live feed to memory on the wifes car..a halfords tech swapped the red and yellow when I couldnt get the memory to stay on a radio I bought from them...anyway the van radio is working just fine now..thankfully as it was driving me nuts...when I had the facias off on the van console I found a bunch of wires that looked to have been just cut for some reason..not a clue how or why..but they dont seem to have any detremental effect on the van at all...mind you I have still to sort out the central locking...if it has one Dodgy ....old Smokie is certainly challenging...but I have found a very strange affection for it...the wife thinks I need my head looking at...I keep threatening to use it to drive to Cornwall in next year...that keeps her quiet for a day or so....Hope your Christmas and New Year went well..and all the best for 20016...
Regards,
Steve..
