Drive Belt Replacement
#1
Hi
My Alternator Drive Belt snapped today so I naturally went out and bought a new one. Fitted it but then realised there is a bracket in the way that would rub against the belt when turning. Presumably the belt needs to go through the centre of this bracket but i can't figure out how to get it off. Anyone familiar with replacing drive belts? It is a 2005 1.4 Petrol model with Power Steering but no Air Con.
Help! Help! Help! We're supposed to be going on holiday tomorrow so won't have time to take to a mechanic.
Much appreciated.

Hey Col
Yep, that's the one. I figured it had to go through that bracket but can't figure out how to get it off.
Cheers

Unbolt it with the 2 nuts. BTW. Was your belt a clean break or was it a bit shredded? If the latter, or you're unsure, take the cambelt cover off and check no remenants of belt got in there. It can cause the cam belt to jump with disaterous results

Much appreciated Col. Looks simple enough, I think I must have been staring at it for too long earlier! I still have the whole belt and I can piece it together so it looks like it's a clean break. Might just double check to be on the safe side though
