does anyone no how to get to the negative post on the battery to test voltage, ive got a fluke multimetre and I wanted to check the battery as its not firing as quick as it was before xmass maybe the weather ? can easily get to the positive post but the back one looks a bit of a head ache, 2010 1.6hdi 75ps van

Don't really need to. It's a negative ground system so just use the engine as ground. If you really want to get to the battery post the top is not too difficult to remove. Did it to replace battery a few years ago but don't recall the details.

Battery voltage alone won't tell you its condition. It needs a proper drop test to check cranking amps.

remember you are looking for 13v ideally from a good battery and about 14.3v charging.

I use the stud on the inner wing that I presume is there for this purpose. I charge through that with a smart charger too, works prefect.
