[Engine] Having trouble fitting new auxiliary belt
#1
Question
Just taken off my old aux belt as it was getting to lose and tried to refit my new one and there isn't enough slack, I've pulled back the automatic adjuster pulley and pinned it,

Is there any manual adjusters?

I have a berlingo 19.D 800kg 2001, power steering (no aircon)

I've had the same issue with mine in the past ( same engine etc ) including taking the old belt back to the shop for a different one etc and in the end my solution was to remove the small idler roller at the bottom RHS of the belt run and then fit the belt followed by refitting the idler.
Not ideal but not difficult. The tensioner min - max marks end up showing the belt too tight but only just.
I've done nearly 60k miles so far without issue, belt routinely changed at 20k or every 18 months.

That was a good find Hornet, my belt will be ok for another 15 k or so but let us know how you get on with it including the final position of the min-max marks on the tensioner as it could be useful for my next belt change.

I wouldn't buy parts from Euro Car parts now, they often get it wrong! I don't think you can beat buying parts from a Citroen dealer, as they don't cost much more than buying from independents (sometimes they've been cheaper!), and I ALWAYS get the correct part.

+1 to that plus Eurocarparts really aren't that cheap anymore - i'm finding lots of parts online or even Halfrauds that are working out cheaper.

Got my other belt, been trying to fit it all day and couldn't , was thinking this is supposed to be 5cm longer so why is it as tight as the other one...... When I took the other one back the bloke got the new one and measured it again the other one and said yep this is a bit longer so this should be ideal, I paid for it and took it home and been trying to fit it all day, when I gave up and pulled off I noticed it said contitech 1390 on it and it was the belt that I took back!!!! The idiot put the belt I was returning (as it was to small) in the new dayco box .....AHHHHHHHHHHH
