Retrofitting keyless entry system
#1
Hello all,

I recently bought a second hand Berlingo van (2010). It came with keys, but no wireless keyfob. After looking into it, I decided the cheapest option was going to be to install a 3rd party wireless entry system. I have now received the unit, and am just looking for some advice on how to wire it up. The instructions that have been sent are somewhat vague and generic.

Any help would be much appreciated Smile

Cheers

There are 5 wires going to door lock/unlock motor. 2 wires for motor ,and 3 wires for switch. One wire is common wire, one is for
unlock and one for lock. You have to remove door panel find those 3 wires and follow them inside until you find them connecting
to BSI. Then you take your wireless key sistem and on the data sheet find closest match to those 3 wires mentioned above.
Connect 3 wires from wireless key sistem to 3 wires on car. Do not cut wires , just solder them together. Also connect +12 and
ground to wireless key management sistem. Try if it is working.
It is pretty straight forward when you find those 3 wires from door lock/unlock motor.

P.S. This is from my memory. I have done it long time ago on another car.

I have done it in this way on 2001 M49, don't know if the lock is the same:

With the universal remote, I simulate switching the door-lock-with-key. You have to cut one wire (from pin 6). It is one of the two thin wires. Of course, colors can differ. You can still lock/unlock the passenger door with the key!

Thanks for the info guys. Will have a go when I have some free time. My question is how do i know which wire is which? I know theyre all numbered, but as yet I have not been able to find an appropriate wiring diagram. Obviously I can go with trial and error, but would be easier knowing which was which to start with!

Thanks again!

As far as i remember: inside the car, there will come 2 thin wires from the door (the rest will be thicker). I think one is blue, the other violett. In my car 2001 M49, it was the blue wire (in drawing violett). I connect a voltage-meter to one of the possible wires and switch with the key in the door open/close. You will see a signal change, if not, you have the wrong wire. Then you know you have the right one. But it is more save to look in the wiring diagram, may be in your car it is different.

Did you have any luck with this?
I'm after the pinout for the door mechanism if anyone has it. The wires are numbered, but all grey on my 2013 model.
