So by your logic, if you used the camera in the factory socket on the centre console you'd need to put an inline fuseholder between the socket and the plug? Yes it sounds ridiculous but it's no different

Sorry but there's no logic here. You don't add a fuse to every single socket in a house. The fuse is in the plug, just like it's inside the 12v plug on gadgets like cameras. If the wiring failed the main fuse would protect.

YES! Exactly that. Finally the penny drops, although I think you are sniggering at this idea. Why? The socket has a fuse, the plug has a fuse.. why are you obsessed with adding a third?

By the way, i am qualified in electronics
And are you really suggesting you splice into a 30A rated circuit with lower rating cable? Jeez

This is just lunacy.. You're saying we should fit a cigar lighter socket, but with smaller cable so it can't actually run a cigar lighter, then put a fuse on it in case anyone tried to put a cigar lighter in the cigar lighter socket.
Then if that wasn't crazy enough, we get around the problem you created by chopping the plug off a camera, losing the inbuilt fuse and having to make a power supply for it???
I propose a much simpler idea. Use the correct cable thats rated for the circuit. No need for a fuse. Plug the camera into the socket and go

In case you missed the title, here it is again - "Adding another accessory socket in boot area"
Accessory sockets can be used for several things. you are restricting it to a camera. what is the op decides to plug in a fridge at a later date? What if someone else reads and copies the idea, then uses a more powerful appliance?

Interesting you bring up the 'troll' argument. Actually by definition you are behaving in this way. You sit here with your 'reputation' and all your 'thanks' and crap thinking everyone should believe your theory. Then someone new comes along with new ideas and you don't like it. That is textbook troll. Check the mirror before you start.
As for this debate. I have nothing more to add. I don't like your way and you don't seem to like mine. I've explained why I prefer mine and answered all the reasoning. I think this has ran its course and then some
