wires to oil diesel filter housing?

If theres no heater, then maybe it is a water sensor.

cheers col but i find no info anywhere on a 2.0 hdi having a water sensor. haynes manual gives no info (no suprise!)

mine has no indicator on dash for water in fuel as suggested by other replies, but as it's a totally different engine to ones mentioned by others, maybe that is why?

If it's the one with the green plug it's definitely a water sensor, well just a conductivity probe really, water conducts, diesel doesn't, if it senses water the ecu shuts down.
