wires to oil diesel filter housing?

hi all,

anyone tell me what the wires that plug into oil diesel filter housing are for?

thanks.

They for the electric fuel heater (I think)

What he said, but they don't all have a fuel heater, despite the wires, so check before you buy an expensive fuel filter.

Yes. They have a water sensor as well as heater. . It puts on the dash light, the one above the low coolant light.on the Berlingos.
Not sure on Citroens but water sensor is usually on bottom of filter, so don't take this as gospel.

that's the 1.6 hdi which, as far as i know difffers a lot fromthe 2.0
haynes didn't even include it in the manual.
