I am trying to locate in my engine bay the idle control valve, my idle rev is around ten and half I feel it should be around eight and half once hot, I was thinking to clean the idle control valve before buying a new one in case all it needs is a clean.
Citroen berlingo 600d 2006
I don't think you have one. MAP sensor and ECU are what control the throttle these day due to fly by wire bullshit past 2001. Same way my BMW has an idle control valve and it's just a air pipe past MAF, fitted to a device bottom of the engine and has little opening for air to pass by. Almost like mini butterfly.

Ahh that might explain why I can't find it
Is there anyway to turn down the idle revs?
As you haven't said which engine this is a very "loose" suggestion.
Check intake system for air leaks if you are sure revs are to high as ECU controls idle
Its a Citroen berlingo 600d 2006 1.9d non turbo.
I will check intake system.

Don't bother. You will find idle adjustment on the injector pump in the form of a stop screw on the throttle operating arm.
BTW Diesels don't have an idle control valve so assumed you had a petrol engine fitted
Egr valve may need cleaning,
Check the cold start mechanism in case it is incorrectly adjusted, I had this when I bought my van.
Do you have a Haynes Manual ?
Thanks for the reply's just bought a boat so been distracted from forum.
Its a Diesel so I won't waste time looking for an idle control valve.
Egr valve will look into that next.
As for Haynes Manual I could not find one that went past the year 2005 and mines a 2006 maybe I looked wrong or something, tried Halfords and few other places.
