A hello! And a question about wood..
#1
A hello, new to the forum and to Berlingos. Proud owner of a 2013 Berlingo Multispace XTR with 20k on the clock. Picked it up from a Citroen Approved used dealer.. Hoping it'll bring us plenty of camping trips over the next few years!

I plan to make a boot jump in the style of amdro and a couple of others that have been posted on here: Thanks to all who put theirs up for inspiration!

Quick question about the best wood to use? Strength/weight and all that. I'm thinking 10mm ply for the top and bottom sheets and maybe slightly sturdier 15mm ply for the internal side pieces. Glued and screwed.

I figure this would be sturdy enough without the need for extra bracing and supports?!

Ta!

I'd use 12mm birch ply for all sides, works well and will be strong as an ox without the weight of 15mm

Cheers dumdum, good to know!

9mm or 12mm top and bottom sheets and 12mm sides. With cut outs to remove weight. Now just need to think about the hinging...

Depends what you want, full length piano hinge is good for the kids as long as no weight is placed on them, make sure the load bearing lids are resting on wood so the wood takes the load...
