Bought a nail of a partner
#1
Hi all I've used the forum as a guest and thought it only right to register now to give thanks.

I bought a 300 quid p reg 1.8xud partner 3 months ago that I was told needed only a rad and a wheel  bearing.  Turns out Ive had to fit the following

Wheel bearing
Drop links
Ball joint
Radiator
Back box
Thermostat
Glow plugs
Glow plug relay
Wipers
Steelies as the alloys had barely any thread holding then on
Rear shoes and cylinders
Head gasket and cambelt
Full fluid change

Turns out the vans  clearly not done 55k as advertised sadly I bought it private.
But I did all the work myself and ive Learnt alot.
Still need a heater fan and rear door lock but it's on the road after 3 month.

Im sure you can check MOT history on DVLA website and that should give you annual mileage as well. Not sure what legal recourse you would have if its been clocked though as it was a private sale.

If my maths are right, you bought an 23 year old van with a claimed mileage of 55,000 miles? ... That's an average of less than 50 miles per week. I know that fellas come over from Ireland and buy high mileage ex courier vans for peanuts and "process" them. Sorry, but at a price of £300 I'd have thought that it was only fit for breaking for spares anyway. Caveat Emptor, let the buyer beware.

I own a 52 plate with 72k on and a 91 car on 69k so it's not unreasonable. At 300 quid with 3 weeks mot left I thought its worth a chance.
And nothings a breaker if your the guy that doesn't like to give in.

Anyway now I have my van and only owes me 500 quid.  I'm happy.
And I should of checked the mot history while I was there but I was in a rush and wanted a 1.8xud for wvo reasons

I was ages looking for the right van to,so if you spend 300 or 2000 it will cost more money getting it right,I put 300 aside for this reason, but spent double that sorting it out,
