Heater matrix hose "o" rings
#1
Hello, this is my first post on here. I've been looking at the threads regarding heater matrix replacement. In one of the posts it mentions replacing the hose/matrix "O" ring seals which it says are a few pence. I've 'phoned the main agents this morning to be told that these "O" rings are not available separately and are part of the heater hose assembly (£42).

Where are the "O" rings available from? I'm assuming this is the problem, I've read the horror stories on here regarding blocked matrixs, etc but the car is low mileage and it's going to be easier and cheaper to try the seals first. Any ideas anyone?

Hi there, I got mine from 'Sealsuppliesuk' on Ebay. You need to measure the inner and outer diameters of the seal and the thickness of the rubber and match it to their products. They sell in small quantities for low cost.

good luck

Ask for Viton O rings rather than " normal " ones ............

A good local bearing stockist will keep them

Thanks, I remembered we'd sourced some O rings for our kitchen tap from a local bearing supplier, Hayleys.

So, went to remove the heater pipes and they just pulled off, the securing clip wasn't located behind the locking tab! Removed the O rings, measured them, I made them 22mm ID and 3mm diameter of the seal. Cleaned them up as they looked as new and refitted them. However, the clip was about 5mm short of engaging on the tab, it had obviously never fitted properly, possibly new hoses had been fitted and they weren't proper to the model/engine.

I modified the existing clip so that it engages fully with the tab and no more leak. We'll soon see if this is a long term fix, I ran the car up to operating temp and checked the heater operation and bled the system. Hopefully job done.......unless you know better!!!
