Head gasket failure.

I changed the head gasket on mine over a weekend. With the engine in the car. Pig of a job, mainly getting the manifolds off as there isn't enough room to pull them off the studs, I needed to unwind the studs from the block. The exhaust manifold needs to be off before the intake, which complicates things a little as it's underneath. But since then I havn't had any problems. Mine was pressurising the coolant.

So that is the same as mine then. Pressurising coolant and loosing coolant. Still running perfectly. Did you do timing belt at the same time? I don't know when or if mine has been done so I would do it too. Also did you need the head skimmed? Thanks Davie

The 107 will live forever... it's not French!

It's even got Toyota stamped on some components and heaps of Japanese instructions under the bonnet. But net even Japanese really, they are built in the Czech Republic I think. The only french bit is the badge on the key fob

If and when you decide to bring off the head, plan to put in new head bolts as well.  I did that on mine when I learned that the bolts are not meant for reuse after several subsequent unexpected gasket failures while cooling system appeared normal. I followed it up with an oil flush and the car now goes like a song.

Well I cut my losses and sold the berlingo. I think I will now go on the lookout for another one, or a larger dispatch.
