van with no air intake pipe or intake manifold question,
#1
Hi i just bought a van that was driving well, the engine management light was showing but i thought it was something small because the van was driving well and in great condition. on further inspection I noticed there is no (1434 J3) AIR INTAKE PIPE and (1434 F9)INTAKE MANIFOLD AIR FITTING.
does the intake manifold air fitting connect to another part or just to the panel?

what effect would driving without these parts have on the van?

what prices can i expect to pay to replace these parts?

if i clear faults will the engine fault light still show without carrying out work? (i have mot/doe due)
thanks in advance

shouldn't make a lot of difference as the air is still going through the air filter , maybe a little noisier. The missing pipes direct the air from the front of the van to the air filter and that's it.

Don't know the prices  but they should be cheap enough at a scrapyard

Try clearing the engine light faults and see if it comes back on, it may not come back on.
It shouldn't  stop the engine from working if its running the now.
Check the wires are all plugged into the sensors and air vacuum pipes are still attached.
You should get it scanned and that will give you a fair idea where to look for the cause.

Surely the engine will be sucking in hot air from the engine bay instead of cold air from outside the van?

It might be an issue on a 900bhp fire breathing monster of a car... but none whatsoever on this van other than a bit of induction noise and probably annoying throatiness Wink
