Lights / Alternator problem
#1
I swear I saw a thread on this a month of two ago but can't seem to find it. My head lights seem to get brighter when when I push the accelerator (which I remember the alternator being mentioned) but also today (don't know if it's to do with the same problem) I had my stereo on and the illumination was flickering to the music in time with the bass. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

If anyone thinks I should rename the thread to something more suitable, that would say the problem more clearly, please let me know

Thank you

Lliam

Both of those symptoms point to inadequate alternator output. Bass notes require a lot more current than the upper octaves so if the stereo is blinking (dimming) in time to the bass it would also point to this conclusion. As far as a solution we'll have to wait for pk7478 to come along.

The problem is in a voltage regulator.

It's very difficult to say what exactly installed on engine.
There're two variants: Bosch or Valeo.
If you have BOSCH 0 124 525 035 alternator you need sparepart 5761 C7
Or if you have Valeo TG 15C.... alternator you need sparepart 5761 C8.
Non-original voltage regulators for Bosch:
Huco 13 0599
Elparts 35000201
Bosch F 00M 145 394

For Valeo - there's no non-original spares.

Thank you pk7478. Is it both parts I need to get? I will have to check when it's day to see whether it's Bosch or valeo

Thank you

No. You need only one of this spareparts. Check the model of alternator. is it a Valeo (Denmarr) or Bosch?

oooo - glad it's not just me getting this issue, I had wondered whether it was an alternator issue, but given that it doesn't seem to impact the every day use of the car I had 'parked' it in the 'do it later' list...
