Thanks for all the replies, fantastic response. I'll get stuck in when the weather improves. I could leave it and use it as a speed limit warning !!!.......No

Progress. I've stopped the draft with a bit of sponge for now. Another issue with the heating is that you cant have hot air to your feet only, it still comes out of the screen vents and dash vents. Seems crackers to me. Frustrated by this but not much else.

Turn the heating down three clicks - if you look on the dials there is a symbol for screen demist.
With air con on and heating on full it sends warm air out of the dash. If you put the fans on full Rupert and turn the heating down three clicks, you'll hear the fan slow down.
I also set my heating to dash and face but put the upper vents pointing down. Only downside is it makes the touchscreen hot and after a while it goes into overheat mode and turns the sound down

I have now put in two car wash sponges one cut in half, stops the cold air coming through the hole.
But where is the cold air now going?

I’ve finally found a permanent fix for this.
I traded my van in for the latest K9 model. No drafts at all now and your head doesn’t overheat anymore!!

Got to make some 'cut to fit' foam as sponge is not 100% effective.
And blocking the hole just makes the freezing air come out all around the bottom of the speedo.
Beyond a joke now where ~I don't want to drive if it's cold.
The foot heater is almost worthless and the heater in general takes about 45 mins to make the car suitable for human habitation.
Is that cold air meant for the matrix but is sidestepping it somehow and coming straight through ?
Thoroughly pissed off with it.
In terms of filters, Is it two above the pedals and another two behind glove box? I have air con.
