Lost Keys, Unable to code new key.
#1
hi all,

I recently lost my keys and thought getting an auto lock smith with the code from citroen and a new key would be the end of it, how ever the key gets me into the van etc but will not start the engine as the code from citroen won't work to get the key coded, we give them the vin number and rang them twice again to make sure they gave us the right code, the key number we got worked perfect. i was then informed that this could be due to a previous owner changing the engine, but it all worked perfect before i lost my keys. Anyway the upshot was that it was going to cost me another £250 to fix.

Any help appreciated.....
thanks chris

Hello Chris, i'm not too sure of your current issue? Sounds from the post that you didn't have a working key, but now you do?

I lost my keys last week, luckily I have boomerang key insurance, my car (focus) and lingo van keys were both lost, I have only aftermarket spares for both, ford struggled and in the end had to completely recode my car and issue me a new fob and spare, this took 5 hours !!!!! I am booked in at Citroen on Monday , I'm hoping they also dont have this problem, the guy there seemed to think it wouldn't be an issue, I will keep you informed, for the record I got a boomerang tag with mu car ins, they have issued me all keys for nothing, no excess, doesn't effect claims etc, best thing since sliced bread, well recommended
Just to add, at ford they basically said my spare was a cloned key so didn't hold all relevant info in ford database , hence a full recode via there computer at ford , the old spare I had only opens the doors, boot etc but will not start the ignition !!! Sounds like a similar problem
But before recode the old spare worked everything ???? I was as confused as they were, sorry for all the additions I keep forgetting stuff
