interior light
#1
Hi all,
My son's 2002 1.9D multispace has developed a fault on the interior light.
Works fine from the drivers side but not from the passenger side.
Had a look but can't see any door switches. Please let me know where the switch is. Looked through the forums but didn't find the answer.
Thanks.
Pappy

Is it a MK1 Berlingo?

I might be confusing my vehicles here, but isn't there like a small plastic 'nipple' inside the door frame? Near to the door speaker region.

Hi Steve
It is a MK I. The only things I can see around the door frame is a plastic plug halfway up the A pillar. Certainly no "normal" type door switches.
Are the ones on Bingos magnetic? did I read somewhere that they are integrated into the door lock itself?
The "door open" warning light doesn't come on when the passenger door is opened, the interior light and dash warning function properly on the drivers
side.
Thanks again.
Pappy

No there are no " nipple" type things, the only thing I can see around the door frame is a plastic plug halfway up the A pillar. By the way it is a MKI model.
Many thanks,
Pappy

Should be a little black rubber 'protrusion' just under the door check strap.

The switches do fail.

Hi Steve, have looked all around and saw no rubber protrusion. we had to repair the checkstrap where it goes into the door on the drivers side. Saw no switches there. The Bingo is out just now so will have to wait until the morning to investigate further. Thanks for your prompt reply. Will keep you posted as to what I find.

Thanks for the pic Steve - I'm sure we don't have that on ours. I have replaced door switches on other vehicles (VW) and was looking for a switch similar to this but I will look again when the car is back ( It's a 2002 MK1 Berlingo Multispace - but I'm sure Multispace and van will be the same)
Will keep you posted.
Regards,
Tony

The courtesy light switches are an integral part of the door lock assembly, according to haynes.

My '98 has the rubber button by the check strap.

And it works sometimes and not others.
