FORTE VRS DESIRE
#1
I'm getting confused between the forte and the desire. Some fortes seem to have sunroofs and mondultops some don't. I thought only Desires had them but I've seen a couple of Fortes now with these.

What's the difference between the two, if all the options available on both to make them the same spec it seems a buit daft to have two different trim levels.

The Desire has a non-opening glass panelled roof and the modutop is fitted as standard equipment.
Some Fortes may have an opening sun-roof fitted at the factory as an option. Fortes with a modutop may have had this fitted as an accessory.
Hope this helps

The Modutop was available as an option on both models. Either model may or may not have them. There seems to be more without than with. Early Berlingos, pre yr 2000 were fitted with full length webasto type fabric sunroofs & some cars will be fitted with aftermarket flip up sunroofs. Personally, I would avoid all of them.

The story is as follows.

As Opensauce says, the early Berlingos were fitted with the full length electric sunroofs.

Later Mk1 Berlingos were all badged "Forte", and one had the option of either sunroof or the Modutop - or of course, neither.

When "Desire" spec came in with the Mk2 Berlingo, the Modutop ceased to be an option on the "Forte" spec - but one could get the sunroof as an option if one wanted. With "Desire" Spec Berlingos, the Modutop was standard, and the sunroof was not an option.

At least that's my story!

Thanks for the replies. It make sit even more confusing. I'm interested in a Berlingo near me (that I contacted through here) but I'm off to see a Peugeot Partner Quicksilver this weekend. It looks as if the Citroen had better trim than the Peugeot, it looks like Peugeots didn't have the tables on the backs of the front seats or cap trims on the rear doors. It's odd that they were suposed to be more expensive!

Hi, do you mean you would avoid the Pre 2000 cars or just the ones with an openeng sunroof?

I would avoid older cars with the sunroof or aftermarket flipup glass sunroofs as they have a tendency to leak when they get old. Its just something you don't really need imho.
