[Engine] Fault code help please

Hi Folks,
The engine management light keeps coming on on our 2002 MkI 1.4 Multispace.
I have read the OBD and it always shows "Generic code P0130 O2 sensor curcuit Bank 1 Sensor 1".
I assume from this it's the first sensor in the system i.e. the one at the top of the engine at the front by the exhaust manifold.
If this is correct it was only replaced in June (along with the cat). I have cleared the fault code twice so it's not an old one.
Any suggestions please.

Maybe try checking the connectors on the sensor, if that is in fact the one that the code refers to. Not much help I know...cratch:

1 is on the manifold, 2 is on the cat.

If it was only replaced in June, I'd take it back as it will still be under warranty.

I'd check it's nothing obvious first though. Make sure it's fitted to the connector properly etc...

P0130 is a bad oxygen sensor, however this isn't always the case. If your o2 sensors haven't been replaced and they are old, it's a good bet that the sensor is the problem. But, It could be caused by any of the following:

Water or corrosion in the connector
Loose terminals in the connector
Wiring burnt on exhaust components
Open or short in the wiring due to rubbing on engine components
Holes in exhaust allowing unmetered oxygen into exhaust system
Unmetered vacuum leak at the engine
Bad o2 sensor
Bad PCM

New top sensor & cat in June 2011
New plugs, crank sensor, air & fuel filter in Jan 2011.
New ingition coil April 2010
All connections/wiring and fuse seem ok. Just tying to work out how to check voltages as on web link. Also need to check exhaust manifold has no leaks.
I assume it's safe to keep using the vehicle?

Who is manufaturer and what model of Lambda-Sond which installed in your car now?

they are very sensitive the tips of the lambda sensors, maybes the mechanic had dirty hands and put oil on it, and its burnt on when he installed it? best thing to do is check the resistance, the feed and the voltage given off it with a multimeter before replacing other parts etc.

Haynes manual dosen't show wiring diagram for sensor curcuit.
4 wires come out of sensor 2x white/1x grey/1x black. Both white and grey go to green wires in loom/ black goes to a brown.
I know 2 are for heater (12 volt feed and presumably earth) and 2 for sensor info (5 volt + earth?) but which are they so I can check voltage.
