Thanks for those mate, looks pretty straightforward. The bracket behind the number plate,is that just held on with self-tapping screws? There doesn't look anything substantial to fix it to behind the bumper.

I think mine was, been so long now since fitting , and me old brain dont retain info like it used to. If I can fit it, you will have no problems, a little jack or extra helping hands does help to hold it up initially to lign up for bolts, though Knowing how it fits I managed using my legs second time I fitted it. PLEASE please inform your insurance that its fitted though , otherwise if your in a bump insurance will fail to pay out. Pete.

Disgusting isn't it!
The insurance is actually in my wife's name, she is 49 (she's not gonna thank me for saying that) and she,nor I,have had any kind of accident or claim in the last 15-16 years since I have been living here.
In fact,I can't remember when I last had an accident and made a claim on the insurance in the UK,it was probably in the mid-80's when someone rear ended my XR3i.
I think it's basically expensive here because of the amount of un-insured drivers there are in Belgium, that and the fact that so many new and young driver's own hot hatches and high performance cars.
A lot of them, though not all,get given a car or money when they reach 18 by their parents/grandparents and often it's 3-series BMW's,Audi A4's etc.
Every weekend on the national news there's reports of fatal accidents involving teenage drivers, driving too fast or under the influence, and then mum and dad are quoted as saying "He was such a careful driver, never touched alcohol".

A couple of years ago there was such an accident just a short distance from where we live,a teenage male driver was taking a couple of young girls from one nightclub to another at 3am,lost control and killed the three of them. The police calculated the speed just before the accident at 125kph.The limit for that road is 70kph.

There is very little police presence on the roads here, and the standard of driving reflects this, people driving whilst using mobile phones, driving with a dog on their lap,no seat belts, young children standing on the seats or standing gazing out of the windscreen.

same here a couple of years ago on Anglesey, a male driver was taking 4 others in his clapped out soooped up clio for a night ride, hit 85 mph in a 30 mph limit. Most died apart from him, as you say usual comments goody goody children, he had been warned before about drink and drive. Why were 16/17 yr olds out at midnight. Why did they go with a driver they new was mad. AND yes we cop it in our premiums.
I think no teenage driver should be allowed out after 8.00pm with other teenage passengers, no new driver can take passengers for 2 years, D plates are legal for new drivers for 2 years.....dare I go on. but as usual this govenment is s**t soft, scared of loosing faith, sadly I think they would gain more respect.....
Pete
Instead we allow speed cameras to book someone doing 33 in a 30, zone, you hardly see a real copper on the beat [only plastic ones...the pretend cops, more traffic wardens than their are mp`s. and WHY....all to make f----g money.
coppers cant hit a youth on the ear, teachers cant stand up to unruly kids, WHY ...this f---g soft society where human rights [ of the sh--ts] overrule the decent human being....
wow just getting started now...warming up.....
But enough....you know it all anyway....
sorry guys and gals, I took it off thread.

Off thread,but points worth mentioning.

A classic example of the way things work here, last year a bus passenger reported to the police that the bus driver smelt strongly of alcohol, the police stopped him and breathalysed him, whilst the rest of the passengers sat and waited.
He was well over the limit, lost his licence for a month and was back driving buses again.

It's quite common here to get your licence back within a couple of months for that sort of serious offence,it depends on what job you do or family commitments you have.

Anyway,to get back on topic,I found a Turkish company that makes bull bars, they look nice on this Pug,but there's no mention of having EU type approval,so I'll steer clear of them.

Here is one of the two Bolts that were replaced by vanstyles fitters.
In the photos they are the bolt heads going up towards the engine bay.

Suspect they were replaced by longer ones to allow for the thickness of the bracket!

The brackets are fastened onto the bumper by machine screws.
