Cubby holes below air vents...
#1
Hi

The empty round holes under the airvents in the centre of the dash:
1. What are they for?
2. How do you take them out?

Thanks

They are for...the most useless storage things known to man. Can't put a cup in them, and only small things fit, which fall to the back and need trickery to get out again.

You can push a plastic body panel tool into the edge under the silver ring, and work round the edge it eventually pops out a bit, enough to pull out. There are 4 catches at 12, 3, 6 and 9 oclock. But they are just below the visible silver lip. Bit of a pig to remove, I did my vents a month ago as the originals were busted, same procedure.

See here, clips visible:

A half eaten burrito fits.
To save for later.
Now a 2019 K9 1.2 petrol.
Before a 2010 B9 1.6 HDi diesel.

Now I know how to get it out (thank you!)

Another ghetto mod - actually being able to get a mobile positioned in the right place…

I like that, another user (@smtk) has 3d printed an insert for that purpose, and it looks really nice. Check out his thread in the member's Berlingo's section.

There's a library of 3D printing resources online, called thingyverse. Someone has already scanned the exact size and shape of the cubby hole, so I got a mate to print it off and then fixed a cheap phone holder to it, which just slots inside. Fits perfectly and is totally removable if I ever change my car.
