Likely to be your Com 2000 unit. This is the "switch" assembly on the end of the indicator stalk around the steering column.

Mine does the same but it puts main beam on, sometimes it does it a lot then it stops for a bit , the last time mine did it was two months ago and I don't fancy paying out for a new unit

Mine has just started doing similar things too and apparently it's the Comm 2000 Unit that's at fault.

Specific problems that I have:
- When unlock the car and open the driver door the lights on warning beep sounds even though lights are off (stops beeping when the door is closed).
- When turn ignition on the headlights come on.
- When indicating right the indicator flashes 4 times then stops, and the headlights come on if not already on.

The most annoying problem is the indicator not working properly but it works fine if I switch sidelights or headlights on so I've just been switching lights on as soon as I get in the car.

I've been quoted £220 to get the Comm 2000 Unit replaced, which I will do eventually, but I'm in no hurry since the problems are not showstoppers.

Cheers,
Alan

Check the basic things before taking the plunge for a new control unit.
Do a Bsi shut down then -
Unplug / plug all the connections at the back of the unit, it might be just a tarnished connection in need of re-seating.
Check fuse 4 & 14 - these feed the comms + the general supply to the unit.
Check the earth connection MC43 - this is strangely enough behind the center interior light.
Do Bsi boot up procedure.

And lastly before you take the plunge and fork out the dosh - if you can be without it for a few days or so, you could post it to me to check over / test / repair if possible, after all what have you got to lose.
