which suspension / front end swap?
#1
hi there all. just got my 2nd partner :woop: is an old 97 1.8d in pink/white/red montage haha

couple of things i wondered, is the front suspension the same as the 306? or is it "higher". ie, if i were to fit some -30mm springs from a 306, would the drop be the 30mm or would it be more due to the already lower height of the 306... or is it the same?

also, i wondered if the phase 2 front fits onto the phase 1 van? it looks like just a simple facelift and as such seems like it would be a straight swap, but these things are never as simple as they seem Confusedcratch:

thanks Smile

306 Coilovers bolted straight onto my Partner, so I guess the struts and springs are the same, but TBH I'm not sure if theres a ride height difference (forgot to measure mine..doh!)

306 and picasso are the same if you put the 30mm springs on it will be 30 mm lower but cos the partner arches are bigger your van will not look that low. If your going coil overs bye the Picasso ones because the the shocks are the same as the partner and 306 rear shocks are smaller. Hope this helps

Further from the posts above, Has anyone tried either 306GTi-6/Rallye front springs/shocks or Xsara VTS front springs/shocks? I have a set available that I was thinking of putting on, Im not really that interested in what it looks like (ie- I dont have any desire to 'slam' the van) but want to get a more positive driving experience and upgrade the front end to match the 405 MI-16 rear beam I have ready to put on(Yey! Disks, ARB and stiffer torsion bar!).

In addition, anyone have any experience of upgrading the ARB at the front- again, I have access to both a xsara VTS and a 306 GTI-6 one- again, seeking a better driving experience!

FINALLY, anyone shortened either of the quadrants on the gear linkage to give a short shift? As far as Im aware its basically the same as doing it on a 205 or 306- but was just wondering if anyone had done it and worked out some measurements?

Cheers!

Chris
