weird problem

Smile
07 1.6 hdi berlingo van

Happened 3 times.

Driving along and suddenly dies, no attempt to keep going just stops.

After a time it starts perfectly and works perfect.

I thought it was water in the fuel, so when I happened today I drained the fuel filter and refilled/primed, no difference.

This time I took the keys out and read a bit of a book, after I heard the click it makes when it shuts everything down I gave it a few more mins then tryed to start it. Started instantly and again worked perfect.

Which leads me to think a computer problem since after it shuts down properly it prob resets and away it worked.

Any thoughts on the matter

I can really help much but Ive had 3 blingovans and they all have this shut down timer that clicks a relay.
Its annoying if you want to listen to the stereo while working or waiting.
Sounds like it has got control of the engine too by failure or mistake somewhere.
Have you got 7S or 13 pin towbar wiring thats been tapped in incorrectly?
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

None just the standard ones as if it just cut out.

Check you battery connections and give the engine ecu connectors a look over.
Check that there are no connectors loose on the bsi as well.
Would of thought the "STOP" light would of come on if there was something a miss.
Is you fuel filter ok?

Yep it's fresh enough, and the 3rd time it happened I drained it to be sure it wasn't full of water

Put the machine on it and it showed a saved fault of camshaft position sensor.

Could that give this fault.

Are they expensive/ easy to replace

Don't quote me but I would of thought this might show the mil light and then go into limp mode. In fact I wouldn't of thought the system is designed to just cut out if it detects a problem as this could cause a dangerous situation at speed etc, that's what the stop lights for.
It's like your losing power to a critical component eg fuse for engine ecu.
Try checking all fuses, Bsi & engine bay (bsf) and look for loose / heat evidence.
If you leave it to warm up on tick over does it eventually cut out??
Could it be something warming up and failing?
Your engine earth strap hasn't corroded off has it?Confusedillyme:
Keep us informed,
