(Best photo of one I could find.)
For those who don't know it - the old models at least - you get it going by pedalling like heck and when you've got some speed up you lower the motor on to the front wheel to start it.
I used mine to get around town in California - got laughed at a lot for some reason....

Mobylette (french thing seems to have returned in later life)
Still got it in the back of a shed thirty years later....

Mobylette - nice word I'd forgotten that one. Thanks. Yes, they're back, apparently. There's even an electric version I believe.

It was a real old mans bike but still much better than any sports moped and it made me the envy of all the kids at school. I passed my test in June 1976 just ready for the long hot summer that year and having just started work I spent every weekend riding all over the south of England with a variety of different girls on the pillion. Happy Days.
Yep I had a cd175 , brilliant bike, heavy but comfortable I must have done thousands of miles on it, wish I still had it

I had I think it was called a Raleigh Mobyllette, it was a brute and a nightmare to push with the pedals. Then became an art student so went back to my feet untill uni where I went to a kawasaki 250 triple. From the ridiculous to the sublime. Maybe sublime is the wrong word Confusedcratch: Amazing I survived!

Oh I nearly forgot, a Honda 50 too. Scary suspension as I recall.

Now all of you youngsters have come clean about actually owning 'peds.....It's my turn:
First two wheeled 'bike' was a '65 Lambretta GT200 which I systematically destroyed by modding the hell out of it! (Wal Phillips fuel injection, skimmed head etc.) But it was good for 75-80mph.
Then I got a Norman B4 Roadster (250cc Villiers engine.) passed my test and bought a '66 750cc ex-police Norton Atlas for £199...those were the days! And yes, I do wish I'd hung on to both those bikes!
Next, some years later in '76 came a Kawasaki Z1000 bought new. Which ushered in a whole gamut of high powered and very fast bikes
the last of which is my beloved BMW R1150R which I'll be getting back from the repairer at the end of the week having been knocked of it a couple of weeks back Angry :censored: by a blind person driving a 3.2l V8 Vectra. I say blind as I was stationary at a roundabout and he rear-ended me despite the bright orange fluorescent vest I was wearing! I don't bounce as well as I used to....
The Older I get the Better I Was!  Cool

I used to ride a Honda MBX50 and then a Suzuki RG125 back in the day. I then didn't ride much for 10 years, finally took my test and was immediately lent a Ducati 748R by a friend to use for a while. Not the smartest move on either part, but survived this, and then got a FZS600 Fazer which was a great bike.

I don't have much interest in road bikes any more, and I'm now busy tinkering with old Spanish trials bikes.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
