Road noise increase
#1
Over the last couple of weeks, my 1.9D has increased in road noise, like it's running on a really noise surface (like a concrete road) but all the time. I initially thought it must be wheel bearings, but there's no additional noise when cornering, as is usually the case with bearings. Anyone any idea what it is?
There doesn't sem to be any bearing play when I checked in the works car park this morning...

Hi, Had something like this on my old Mk1, at a certain speed the noise started then after a bit more speed faded. Checked all I could with nothing found. So lifted one front wheel up at a time on jack and got it going at speed - near side Ok, but offside started vibrating at at certain speed. Turned out to be wheel bearing. Confusedalut:

It certainly isn't affected by speed - most noticeable if freewheeling as there's no engine noise.

you cant check wheelbearing without the wheel off the ground. too much weight and pressure on it
