Adjusting bonnet & removing lower grille - Help please!
#1
Hi everyone,
I finally took the plunge and bought a new Berlingo 1.6Hdi Enterprise van for my business.
I'd appreciate a bit of help from you more experienced guys, as whilst I consider myself very capable with cars and have worked on lots. This is my 1st Citroen and it has already drawn blood :censored: even just investigating the following!

I can't seem to find a way of adjusting the bonnet leading edge height. Any cars I've worked on have adjustable rubber pads - but nothing on the van that I can see and it looks cock-eyed!

I'd like to remove the lower bumper grille to fit some daylight running lights. Looked simple, but it seems clipped in place and it bit me when I tried to check!

Thanks in advance for any help & thanks for reading

When you say 'new' do you mean 'brand new'?
If so, would take it back to dealer.
If not, has it been in a bump?
There is no adjustment on a Mk.2, not sure about a 3.Confusedcratch:

As for day running lights, someone has posted on that, do a quick search for DRL.

Hi & thanks for the reply.
I'd already searched for DRLs & didn't find anyone had removed the lower grille, just cut it in situ which felt a bit risky.

Yep, van's brand new, no bumps etc, just "manufacturing tolerance" which maybe I'm being pedantic about, but was astonished to see a modern vehicle without any adjustment for bonnet alignment. All my previous cars since the dawn of time had them.

Just shows how accurately and well manufactured new vehicles are. Citroen.... precision engineering at its best....:whistle::whistle:

Well, after a nice, sunny, (rare?) Sunday, I've solved my problems! I'd love to say without further bloodshed, but my elbow fell victim to the "Citroen sharp-edge phenomenon", joining my thumb and knuckle - but hey, its done. :woop:

1. Fixed bonnet alignment by using double sided foam tape to stick a 5mm thick rubber tap washer to each rubber bonnet "prong". Closed bonnet - perfect alignment now!

2. Installed 150mm x 25mm rectangular DRLs in between horizontal bars of the lower grille, with a bit of cutting (1 vertical bar each side) and more double sided foam tape. Wiring was easy, even if I've yet to actually "see" the vehicle's battery underneath all the plastic & cables (hope that never needs to come out!).

I haven't posted a pic as it looks 100% identical to the job XTR described in his post on 29/1/12 on his DRL installation Here. So thanks go to XTR for that.

Update!!!!
After heavy rain, the "waterproof" double-sided tape fell off :brickwall:
So I bought some black silicone sealant from Screwfix and stuck the lights in with that! Job done.....
