Hi there just found you're post about the release bearing,I'm hoping mine is the same issue,it was chattery on Tickover but quite on driving,it is now the opposite way around however it's very quite in 4 th gear and when you coast,I just wondered if you're symptoms where the same,mine is the 1998cc hdi

Hi Oigoinoi. Have a look at the clutch release fork and see if it chatters back and forth when on tickover with the clutch engaged. When the clutch pedal is pressed the release bearing is put under pressure between the fork and plate and tends to quieten down as everything is clamped up. Is it difficult to change gear yet? Before it fails completely it will probably be noisy all the time (clutch in or out).
