Hi guys
I wanted to share you guys with a little mod I am working on.
It seemed to me like a good idea to install a USB charging port next to the rear view mirror.
A USB charging port in this location could use to power all kind of front windshield mounted equipment like GPS video camera etc with having the advantage of using a shorter than normal USB cable.
It happens to be that in my MK2 berlingo I have a rectangle plastic piece next to the upper mirror that can be used for that purposes.
BOM:
Panel mount USB socket from eBay
7805 analogue +5Volt voltage regulator from ebay
DC socket from ebay (optional)
Small heat sink, Wires and Heat shrink
7805 wiring

Attached below is picture of the finished product.
Heat sink is connected to the regulator using a heat conductive glue, other heat sink can use a nut + bolt
I also added a DC socket for direct 12VDC connection.
Later today once installed I will upload more pictures with the final look in my berlingo.
Thx
Samuel.
