DPF / FAP Removal & Remap

We've just purchased a 2009 625LX 90 that has done 160k miles !

Good news is the van runs and drives like it's done 30k, I'm fortunate enough to have my own workshop and I got the van for peanuts but it needed some maintenance items doing such as the cambelt etc all done and no problem.

However the van does have the stupid DPF fitted and it's not long had a new turbo which is not uncommon on high mileage HDI engines.

So the DPF has to go and I shall be shortly attacking it with a plasma cutter.

My question is has anyone had it done as yet?

I realise that I'll have to remap it to turn off the DPF and ill also probably shut off the EGR as well and take the power up to about 120 BHP at the same time

Just wondered if anyone has and tips or advice before I start

not being mechanically minded, help me out a bit. why do we have cars with DPF and EGR `S FITTED IF WE LATER TAKE EM OUT? What are they foreand what benefits are they ? if any at all? I guess something to do with emmissions???? Modern cars like computers seem to be a licence to print money for garages.

correct for emissions reasons.
They work fine when new but are extremely problematic with age.
The EGR reburns exhaust gasses to reduce emissions and the DPF is basically a filter in the exhaust that traps larger particles in the exhaust and then burns them off periodically.

My mate (a mechanic) has done it on his wife's 206 (same engine) after fitting a new turbo (£700, trade).
Not seen it, but he basically cut/removed the lot and fabricated new pipework.
Goes like f**k now (his words!).
Unfortunately he is to and fro working in Saudi for the next 12 months.Confusedillyme:
Not sure how easy/difficult it is, but it can be done.:woop:

I have the equipment to load the ECU file and do the remap, the physical DPF removal is a very straightforward which my exhaist man will do for m for about £70

What I need is the remap file to load, I have looked at ECUSAFE which will remove the DPF code but it may be better for me to find someone who writes the maps for these engines

A remap file should cost no more than about £70 (that's what we pay for VW one's) but my VW guy doesn't do Citroen and I'm getting quoted some silly prices for what I know is a straightforward job

Does anyone on the forum write the map files or can recommend anyone who knows what they are doing to provide a file

as always any help appreciated
