All done - not a heated one, as although the old one did have it, the new one didn't.

Very useful thread, especially as not one but two tw*ts decided to batter my driver's side mirror last week, first a PFY with his hat on backwards near Coniston and then a "King of the Road" in his Mercedes in Teesdale. Naturally neither felt the need to stop at the scene of an accident & it's hard to get their number when your mirror is flat against the door :-(
Good to know I don't have to source a red mirror though.

A quick update to this thread. To get the mirror back off and the colour coded insert off from the back you need to first remove the mirror glass by gently levering it out, then there are 4 torx screws holding the back & front together and the insert can be removed. You can do all of this without taking the mirror body off the door.
