Live 12 volt power supply
#1
Is there a way of enabling the cigar lighter sockets to remain live once the ignition is switched off? There isn't an accessory setting on the ignition swiitch.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure its a good idea having the lighter connected directly to the battery, i think that due to the amount of power the lighter needs its better to use it only when engine is working and the alternator (dynamo) is giving the power.

It depends largely on what item is plugged into the lighter socket
if you're using it for SatNav or phone re-charging it should be OK.
Personally, I would NEVER smoke in my car.

I don't smoke anyway  The reason I asked was because I have a sat-nav that also has built-in freeview so for those times when you're waiting for your wife while she's shopping it would be nice to to watch a bit of tv, catch up on the news channel etc.

Did'nt know sat-nav could do that. What make model is it, might get one for myself.

P.S. You'll be doing a lot of freeview watching then ?

Has your model got the modu-top roof?

If so the 12v sockets in there are always live, so you could plug into those?

It's one of the Garmin Nuvi range. It is a useful bit of kit and tv too.

Using it a lot? yes, that's women for you. Lol.

Sadly no it hasn't. Sad
