[Engine] Restricted Performance

Hi all, Have 2.0 td 02 90k; seems to have lost it's Humph!! that is, it's allways run well but just started to get sluggish, I changed fuel filter/air and oil etc about 1500 - 2000 miles ago. I know more about petrol engines so not sure where to start with this, so what would or could be the obvious things to check?? I'd appreciate some advice thanks::brickwall:

Hi Mark,What sort of use does it have? If it's used for short or city trips it might need a clean out.You can try a brisk drive on it's next decent run.No need to thrash it,a few miles at over 3,000 RPM(in a lower gear so as not to upset the constabulary/speed cameras.
Or use a good fuel system cleaner(also works better on a long run/warm engine).
I personally use Forte but the world's your oyster for choice.

Hi there Mark, I always use Millers Diesel Power Ecomax. It keeps the
fuel system and injector nozzles clean and gives a bit of a boost to
the smooth running and economy of the engine. I have a 1.6 HDi.

1 bottle will dose 500 litres of diesel so it work out quite reasonable.

Hi O'j,The reason I use Forte is that it has no cetane improver & therefore there is no illusion of more power,but I would not for a moment suggest that Millers is in any way inferior.
I used Forte for over 10 years in the motor trade & am very pleased with the results(getting bad emmisions failures through the MOT)

Try getting a diagnostic plug in.
It'll either confirm there is a fault, or if there isn't one!
Doing it this way normally cuts straight to the chase, as you can quickly mount up a small fortune in parts inteligently trying things to cure it i've found in the past.
There are plenty of good clued up garages and mobile diagnostic specialists around now, but also unfortunately plenty of clueless sharks with a diagnostic tool aswell. The best of them are usually found through recommendation.
