LOL! The family is pointing at each other. We`re all blaming the dog now. But it`s not . . . A sweaty sort of smell, but different. Anybody else had this? And was it car related . . . . ? Faulty aircon, or something?
But it will not go away!

it dosent always show as a damp carpet. A little drop of coolant leaking onto the outside of the matrix then evaporating is enough

When I use the washer jets an ungodly stink wafts in through the air vents, either the washer fluid had sat in the bottle for months before I bought the car or the previous owner had "relieved" himself into the washer fluid bottle:eek:
Despite me emptying and now refilling the washer fluid the whiff still remains, although it is now less pungent.
Perhaps this is a possibility for your malodorous vehicle? :S

I had an odd smell in my Mk2 for a while, it turned out to come from the pollen filter. I have no idea why or what but changing the filter stopped it.

As well as all the above suggestions check also you haven't got the ventilation control set to only recirculate the air in the car - I can't remember its official name! Had this on a previous car with aircon when set to recirculate. Smelt of wet spaniel.
Try going for a drive on your own. If the smell has gone then have another word with the dog!
If the smell's still there then ummmmm....errrr...it must be something else.....
