Hi peep's, my berlingo is an 03 with 60k on the clock, from looking at the haynes, the job doesnt look impossible? has anyone any diagrams, tips and pit falls on changing the belt and water pump? also wondering if anyone can tell me if the hdi fuel pump needs to be locked for timing as the haynes suggest that this isnt need which would make the job a lot easier, and also would anyone recomend changing the crank pulley as apparently they can fail which throws the belt into the timing? any help would be much appreciated.
I had my crank pully changed as it was rattling like a good un, you'll know when it's on it's way out!
Timing belt I paid a man to do, I could probably do it, but having never attempted such a job, if I mess it up - dead engine.

I too paid to have it done.
I reckon to change the pulley and the water pump every time whilst you are in there

Dont know exactly for your model but on later ones the h.p. pump supplies the fuel pressure and the injectors/electronics decide when to inject so the pump dos'nt need timing.
No doubt someone will be along to tell you more.
am defo thinking of changing the pulley, water pump and the belt and tensioners if i do decide to attempt the job. im hoping my engine is the type that does not need the fuel pump timed as this makes the job ten times easier. my other concern is the space avaliable to do the job, anyone ever changed a belt?
Anybody got a rough idea of cost to have a garage change the timing belt on a 2.0 hDi?
Mine cost £180 for the belt kit and water pump, inc labour and fitting the crank pulley which I supplied. It was done "after hours".

If i could get it done at that sort of price i would probably get it done in the garage, garage up the road quoted around 300 quid and im supplying parts at around £150 so at £450 thats a lot more!
Its only a 3 hour job when my local garage looked on their system for labour times/charges
took a good look at the job today, im a bit concerned about the amount of room there is for access!!! cant believe that there is no one on here who has done one of these belts!!
