[Engine] Removing engine
Hi guys:wave:
Ive snapped my cam belt and can see that the camshaft is in bits aswell so ive decided just to swap the engine.

Now question time, whats the best way to get them out?
Drop the whole lot out of the bottom or lift the engine out?

I will be replacing the engine like for like, i know the DW8 is slow but it does the job for me.

P.s how much should i be paying for an engine?
Out from the top every time for me otherwise you'll have to have the car pretty high up. No idea on price though.
All I can say is be VERY careful buying S/H engine.There's a lot of crap out there.Try GSF for a recon engine & see if it's viable.Good luck & let us know how you get on.

Hi, the book says to drop it from underneath but if you remove the front grill,rad,lights etc and drain the g/box oil + engine it'll come out. Leave the g/box on but hoist it so the cam belt end comes up first. :thumbsup:

Well cheers for the replies guys.
Got another engine in with new cambelt ect.

All connected up but wont start. Theres plenty of fuel at the filter but not getting past the pump, so i guess theres a solenoid problem. Will do some fault finding tomorrow but sounds similar to this:
Check if there is a bleed point at the injection pump ( too dark to go outside and check under my bonnet ).
Right then, engine is in and running, had to put the old fuel pump on as i think it was the shut off solenoid playing up. Engine was out of an mk1 pug partener going into my mk2 Berlingo and i believe the mk2 solenoid has something to do with the imobiliser.
Once the pumps were swapped over it started up in no time whilst the old man nipped up the injectors.

Has a terrible missfire now at ~2500rpm and doesnt go much over 3000rpm. Very sluggish at accelerating. Is this an ECU fault (limp home mode) and the code need resetting?
Air lock maybe? It sounds very rattly at times:S

Sounds like a sensor (camshaft, TDC etc) for the the engine ecu. Did you swap yours over or are you using the ones from the Pug?
Also have you checked the timing? :thumbsup:

I didnt swap any sensors over (there is no cam sensor) but i will check the crank sensor.
Timing was ok after we fitted the fuel pump and had it running.

Off up to scotland now so I will come back to it next week and check the crank sensor.

Make sure all filters are clean & valve clearances OK.
