Lexia3 advice please
#1
Just about to try and download the software I got with a bundle off ebay. The instructions say to disable any antivirus programmes before procceeding. My question is, will I be able to enable my antivirus programme (AVG) again once Lexia is installed or will it wipe vital files?

Hi, are you taking the files off a remote server, or installing them off a DVD?

If the former, I'd try it with a basic firewall/malware blocker in place. It's far from unknown that these downloads can be infected.

If the latter, once you plop the disc in, most systems scan it or offer to right away. That'll help you deal with any malware.

That said, I'm running 3.45 "lite" (no downloadable file section) and quite happy with it for diagnostics. There's been a lot written on the later Diag versions, many of which need you to "phone home": for updates and some seem to be ineffectual or crippling.

Worst case, you delete the problem files and have another crack at it. Aside from a couple of people who possibly got dodgy interfaces, everyone seems to get there in the end.

I would never turn off my antivirus, there are quite a few programmes that tell you to do this before installing software but I have never had any problems, or virus infections come to that.

Considering that most of if not all of the Lexia software is pirate ware from China I'd never turn off my AV or Firewall.

The software is actually from Holland , it was broke by "Jan" or you might know him by his forums name "scarymistake", the Chinese just copied it ,
jan has a new version out , its Diagbox V6.01 (easy activation) which is the new version of PP2000/Lexia ,
for a few £ i can send anyone a Disc with it on.Confusedanta:

ps - i`ve been loading this type of software and using it for 4 years now and never had Virus problems .

Is that the one where you need to reflash the Actia firmware?

How does it go for update downloads to ECUs?
