berlingo van big problem

hi there i hope some one can help me i have 56 palte .9 berligo van i was driving alone and within about a mile the battery light came on soon came home after couple of days i have put new battery on and alternator on took van out today and its still doing the same can some one please help me

Start the van and put a multi meter across the battery to see if the alternator is doing anything. It should show over 14 volts when someone presses the accelerator for you.
So where does this bit go then ?

right guys i have put a multimetre on battery here are my finding

engine started and ticking over 13.2
engine with revs 13.8
now add lights and window wipers 12.5

i have had a look and i have they have put a yellow spade connector cut to fit alternator stud but i am not if they are strong to take the current

Its not the connector that'll be the problem its the thickness of the wire used. It should be almost
as thick as the battery leads as there should be no voltage drop between that and the battery terminal.
13.8volts isn't exactly wonderful and I would be looking to at least get the alternator output checked.
I would expect that if the vehicle is started several times a day without being driven far then the
battery will go flat quickly.

This readings are too low. Usual suspects are worn brushes and collector rings on the rotor, possible also failed diode in the rectifier bridge.

Usually it is possible to repair the alternator, but this days i don't know if it is cheaper to replace it.

Hi, Check your Battery connections and main earth.
With the engine running and lights on, measure the dc volts between the engine and the negative post of the battery. If it reads more than approx 300 Milli volts then you have a bad earth. Confusedalut:
2006 2.0hdi 600 with bench seat.  Cool

Are any of the connections warm to the touch after a run? if so its a bad connection, if not its almost certainly the alternator, get yourself another, dont bother trying to repair it, its just not cost effective.
