wheel spacers????
#1
any one fitted 5 mm wheel spacers to their berlingo? considering doing this when I put my alloys back on next week, just to space it out a bit. Any thoughts, on internet there seems to be confusion over whether they are safe or not?
Any thoughts.......?

They alter the angle at which the pressure from the wheel (load) is transmitted to the bearing. So yes, they can cause wheel bearings to wear out faster. Having said that, 5mm is negligible and I don't think it will make any noticeable difference.

Do you need them for clearance or is it cosmetic?

just cosmetic, so your answer wont make any noticable differance did that relate to looks or wear?

Do you have to change the wheel bolts with 5mm spacers?

I am told on line by various forums no, but as long as 1 and half time bolt dia lock up, so again very vague answers, other reports say as above it may / will wear bearings out quicker , [ under warranty for 2 more years so can bullshit that one] Unless they come under fair wear and tear policy.......bastards have you every way....ha ha .....
In the end may just think what the hell is it worth it?
not sure yet.....

Warranties are such a mine field. Look at any small print and they will tell you that modifications will invalidate it. I guess that it depends whether or not you think that you can get round a potential issue by changing parts back. And this is before you get onto insurance and declaring mods....
