Folks, our Berlingo normally runs at about 80C but seems to take quite a while to get there especially in this cold weather.
This could be normal so I'm just looking for opinions. Lazy thermostat perhaps? I've contemplated applying the old short-term winter fix of blanking off a bit of the radiator but has anyone else tried this? It ain't the weather for working under the bonnet ouside!

That sounds about right my van takes about 4 to 5 miles to fully warm up then sits mid way on the gauge around 80c all day.
Are we there yet?????
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

Just for extra reassurance,mine does the same & has from new.I would be careful blanking the rad,but if you want to try,start with a small blank.
That way you won't get any sudden overheating.

both of my pugs (306 and 406) ran/run just under 90, and it also took/takes about same time to warm up.

It must also be remembered that the temperature gauges
are not reputed to be hugely accurate! So you may see differences
in read out on different vehicles despite the fact that the coolant temperatures
are satisfactory.

my 2004 2.0hdi is the same was just about to change the thermostat. maybey i wont bother then.

Mine is typical turbo diesel - next to no spare heat for the heater!
Typical temperature is 80c and will hold this all day long no matter how hot it is outside or how slow the traffic, but it can take ages to get there. Not unusual for it not to reach temp after 20-30 mins this time of year

Is there no aux heater option? I know Xantias had this (diesel Eberspacher), also pretty sure the C5 could be optioned with an electric additional water heater.
