as stated by many, depends on ammount of times you might need them, penalties on cheaper ones , also check where you [ if non repairable] you will be towed to, local garage or your home. Had greenflag, they came out to freelander[ partners] and started towing us to our local garage[30 miles] stopped half way, said sorry boss just phoned said we should take you to local garage, or pay 70.00 to continue. Dropped us off on side of road in dark. bastards. So used my rac cover, [ any vehicalal I`m in and they came and collected us, and took us home after dropping off at garage.
Excellant , but expensive....

We were with Green Flag and our car broke down a few years ago. My wife parked up and when she came back to it the battery was completely dead (It was a sealed no maintenance battery) The agency chap said it was down to negligence and charged her thirty something quid for the call out. I complained but got nowhere so didn't renew with them. We went to AA at £130 for cover in any vehicle and have used them a few times with no problem and quick service.
So where does this bit go then ?

How does that work then?? If it's a no maintenance battery what do you have to do to neglect it?
I wish the guy had tried that on with me!
I was with the RAC until I misplaced my bike ignition key in the council car park at Birling Gap near Beachy Head. I rang
for assistance and as it was 'my fault' I was told that I would have to pay a £130 recovery fee to get
the bike back home. They would be with me within the hour. Two Hours later....A kind soul had handed my dropped
key in to the site manager and I was set. So I rang the RAC to cancel recovery as they were more than an hour late
and was rudely told that I would still have to pay a £70 call-out fee. In the meantime a local taxi driver said he would
take me back to Aylesford to get my spare key and return me to my bike for £58!
On the phone the next day I crucified the RAC and their duty operations manager told me that he would refund all charges
as my call was handled very badly and the person who dealt with me would be spoken to. Fat load of good that was to me
stuck 60 miles from home with a locked bike! I renewed with Green Flag this year for my Berlingo and my bike insurance
now comes with full AA cover included.
I've used most of the motoring organisations down through the years and all of them can give you bad experiences.
The Older I get the Better I Was!

Cheap price policies don't have to be cr*p..... I have an insurance policy for my 1955 Land Rover @ £64 for comprehensive, agreed value, guaranteed buy back, foreign travel, commuting, spouse, unlimited mileage and best of all and most pertinent to this thread it comes with breakdown recovery to your home from any UK or EU location.
